Boulder native Vic Franks started singing at Burbank Junior High School and Fairview High School. He sang with the Boulder Chorale community choir after high school and has been part of large choirs, as well as madrigal and show choirs.

He worked his way through CU over the course of 20 years. “Yes, 20 years! I was a professional student, amassing about twice the credit hours needed for my bachelor’s degree.” He holds double majors in marketing and management and a minor in political science.

Vic moved to Paonia in 2001 and joined the Grand Mesa Singers, which became the VSA chorus when it merged under the VSA umbrella in 2002. He has taken occasional breaks from the tenor section, notably in 2010, when he “…was too sad to sing the Christmas concert after losing my mother, especially since her birthday was Christmas Day.”

He worked for a grocery chain for 28 years and dabbled in politics as a candidate for state representative in Boulder and later briefly on the Western Slope.

In 2007, he became a transportation security officer with TSA at the Montrose Airport. He likes to run, bike, lift weights, cook, and bake, and plans, “…after talking about it for 30 years—not being one to rush into anything—to be an entrepreneur making cologne and perfume.”
